My grandmother, Anna Sinofsky used to call our "Patriarch" Zada Yochanan, she said his name was Chaim Yochanan.  My grandmother said he never took a English name.  Later generations named children after him and used Herbert as an English equivilent.  My mother's brother (Chaim) Herbert Sinofsky was named after him. 30
